Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) is one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States. The Accrediting Commission for Schools, WASC, extends its services to over 4,500 public, independent, church-related, and proprietary pre-Kâ12 and adult schools, works with 16 associations in joint accreditation processes, and collaborates with other educational organizations. The ACS WASC accreditation process fosters excellence in elementary, secondary, and adult education by encouraging school improvement. WASC accreditation recognizes schools that meet an acceptable level of quality, in accordance with established, research-based WASC criteria.
Current
In 2017, SYVUHS completed a comprehensive self study in preparation for an accreditation visit from a committee from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This Visiting Committee was on campus from January 21-24, 2018 validating the findings of our report and preparing a report of their own; both reports are published below. In late April 2018, the accrediting commission met and accepted the recommendation of the Visiting Committee to grant SYVUHS the maximum six-year term of accreditation with a mid-cycle report and one-day visit after three years. Santa Ynez High School's is accredited through the 2023-24 school year.
