English Language Arts
The English Department at Santa Ynez High School offers rigorous coursework to support our students’ mastery of the California standards for English Language Arts and to ready our students for both college and career. Our English faculty offers a variety of strategies and opportunities to read, comprehend, analyze, and appreciate diverse works of literature. We use a variety of strategies in reading, writing, listening, and speaking to further develop critical thinking skills; we challenge students’ logic, creativity, insight, and technical skills as they craft well-organized, coherent narrative and expository works. The English Department prides itself on providing a rich atmosphere of language and thinking which enables all students to be successful in the college or career of their choice.
