Most people think of PTSA as simply a fundraising arm of the school, however, we do so much more and are actively working to grow our influence and impact locally to support education. On the national and state levels, the PTA is very active in politics, securing safety funding, education funding, and health and fitness funding for our schools.
We invite you to come join us and see for yourself the positive impact involved parents can make on our schools and community.
We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting! The schedule can be found by following the link on the right or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The SYVUHSD PTSA is looking for Board members for the 2021-22 school year.
The term starts July 1st. It is a one year term, with a 2 year max in one position. It would be awesome to have all grade levels involved. It’s a great way to get involved with our school! We have several of our board members being a senior parent graduating this year!
We meet once a month in the evening for about an hour, except in Dec and Jul. The executive board meets one time in Aug, Oct, Jan, Mar, May and Jun. There are 4 association meetings a year (Sep, Nov, Feb and Apr).
Almost all positions are available, and job descriptions can be sent to those interested or you can talk to the current board members. There are committees and appointed positions also available, but, those that don’t need to be voted on. We need to vote on a board by the end of June. It would be shame to dissolve our PTSA if we don’t have enough interest to keep it going.
We have people that will take the President and Treasurer positions. These are the elected positions that need volunteers for:
The high school PTSA is different than the elementary school level. We don’t do all the small fundraisers like wrapping paper, etc. We send out the monthly P2P Newsletter, operate the Pirate Store, arrange the Frosh Parent Orientation, organize Food 4 Finals twice a year, organize the Teacher/Staff Appreciation lunch, help the senior parents put on Safe & Sober Grad Nite, provide four $500 scholarships each year to seniors that are PTSA members, help support programs & fulfill needs around the school, and help keep members informed. We are open to new opportunities, ideas and growth. You won’t be alone, I will stay on and can continue to do the membership, Pirate Store and monthly Newsletter and give guidance to the other programs.
Thank you for your consideration!! Please contact me or any board member, if you are interested, or pass this info on to someone else who might be a candidate. Incoming freshman parents encouraged to jump right in! Let’s make a difference!
