The Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District campus, including Santa Ynez and Refugio High Schools, is closed from Monday, March 15 through Monday, April 13 so that our students and staff can practice social distancing and isolation. This window includes the week of Spring Break. School is anticipated to reopen no earlier than May 30; however, this date will continue to be carefully reassessed as it gets closer given guidance from federal, state and local officials.
Although our physical campus is closed, our students' education continues online. Teachers are using District-provided tools like our Canvas learning management system, Office 365 productivity suite--including Microsoft Teams video conferencing--as well as a variety of other free tools such as Zoom video conferencing and YouTube Live to deliver content, to hold discussions, and to assign, collect, grade and return student work. It is absolutely essential that students check Canvas and stay in communication with their teachers during this time, so they don't fall behind academically. Online learning plans by department are available below.
  • All SYVUHSD students age 18 years and younger can receive a free meal from the Solvang School District, lower campus, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm.
