Read 180 is a research-based reading intervention program designed for students who are reading below grade level.  Students work in small groups and individually on computers to improve comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, spelling and phonics.  Through this individualized instruction, most students will improve their reading levels by two or more grades per year.  Aside from reading improvement, students also have grade level language arts standards based instruction in listening, speaking, writing, and intensive thinking.  Placement is determined by students' lexile scores on the Scholastic Reading Inventory.

Designed as a bridge between ESL and English, this course prepares advanced limited English proficient students for success in mainstream English classes.  Students read quality multi-cultural literature to develop reading skills and a vocabulary of literary terms.  Writing is based on the literature and ranges from autobiographical to interpretive essays.  Class discussions and formal speeches develop speaking and listening skills.
